How to Unlock Squirrel Girl in Lego Marvel Superheroes 2

Following the success of the original Lego Star Wars videogame, Lego launched itself into numerous other popular franchises, one of the biggest being the Marvel universe. Its unique spin on the superhero genre culminated in an epic introduction to the Lego Marvel world with Lego Marvel Superheroes.

With awesome quests, an abundance of characters, and some great action sequences, it's a perfect celebration of the Marvel universe and led to two more installments of the saga, Lego Marvel Avengers and Lego Marvel Superheroes 2. Despite its obvious inspiration from the Marvel universe, the games had some leeway to explore the world in their own way, leading to some cool changes.

10 Hulk Taking Selfies Is Definitely Not Something We Are Used To Seeing

Lego games have always been renowned for their great comedic one-liners and funny moments, and one recurring gag in Lego Marvel's Avengers is Hulk taking selfies with all his fellow team members and also the occasional supervillain. From taking a selfie on Odin's throne to taking a pic during the battle with Ultron, Hulk's funny side was finally shown.

This, however, is definitely something we haven't seen before in the MCU and was something fans would never have expected to see in the raging green guy take part in. This did actually change when in Avengers: Endgame after Bruce Banner combines his intelligence and brain with the broads of Hulk, we see the green giant take a selfie with a kid during the diner scene.

9 Characters From The Past Mixing With Characters In The Present

Who wouldn't love to see Captain America from present-day finally being reunited with his former lover Peggy Carter, or perhaps seeing Quicksilver coming back from the dead to help the team? These crazy scenarios occur regularly in the Marvel comics but are yet to be seen properly in the MCU.

Better yet, multiple versions of iconic heroes like Lou Ferrigno's '80s Incredible Hulk or the android Human Torch also had knockout appearances in the Lego game only adding to the excitement. And we haven't even mentioned Stan Lee's Minifigure.

8 The Avengers Mixing With Some Lesser Known Heroes

Overall The Avengers game includes over 200 characters to unlock, in Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 there are over 191 characters, and in the original Lego Marvel Super Heroes, there were over 150 characters. With this incredibly large roster of heroes, it's fair to say fans had plenty of new characters to meet, especially since the MCU has only introduced us to a handful of them.

Watching and playing as the Avengers and fighting alongside some awesome comic heroes like Captain Britain and Squirrel Girl was definitely a highlight of the games, and part of the reason the games were so successful.

7 Could The Avengers And The X-Men Finally Team Up?

Fans of the MCU have spent years hoping for the long-awaited team-up between the Earth's mightiest heroes and the mutants ever since Marvel sold the movie rights of Professor X, Magneto, and co, to Fox studios. The highly anticipated reunion could eventually happen in the MCU but was seen in all editions of the Marvel games.

Watching Iron Man and The Beast, or Wolverine and Captain America combine to face off against a villain, was an absolutely great surprise for fans across the world.

6 But What About The Avengers And The Fantastic Four?

Just like the X-Men, Reed Richards, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing have not been seen on the same screen as The Avengers.

This all changed with the original Marvel Lego Super Heroes which featured both teams completing missions and puzzles. From the very first mission, fans played as the Fantastic Four and battled against Spiderman's foe the Green Goblin, opening their eyes to a joint universe they are yet to experience in the movies.

5 Phil Coulson And Agents Of Shield Finally Returned

After his incredibly sad and emotional death in Avengers Assemble, Agent Phil Coulson was secretly revived by Nick Fury and went on to lead his own secret S.H.I.E.L.D team into various missions around the world.

Watching the TV and movie Marvel worlds collide has been repeatedly rumored, and finally, fans were able to see the universe combine in the first Lego Marvel Super Heroes game. To make it even more awesome, among the plethora of various vehicles in the universe was Agent Coulson's 162 Corvette Lola.

4 Time Travelling Shenanigans Are Still Not The Norm In The MCU

In Avengers: Endgame, after the devastating snap at the hands of the mad titan Thanos, the Avengers had lost almost all hope of saving the universe and bringing back half of all life. This changed after a five-year time jump and thanks to Tony Stark's brilliance when they used the Quantum Realm to travel back into their past lives to make their own infinity gauntlet.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, however, takes time traveling to a whole other level, and something fans are yet to experience. From the Old West and Ancient Egypt to 2099 New York City, the game explores many fascinating eras. Perhaps this is coming soon to the MCU however, particularly with the upcoming Disney+ show Loki.

3 Cosmic Bricks Could Be Lego's Infinity Stone Alternative

Of course, the Lego games couldn't take everything from the MCU and some very important plot points in the game had to be completely unique. Perhaps the most obvious is change is the use of cosmic bricks in Lego Marvel Super Heroes. From the remnants of Silver Surfer's signature surfboard, cosmic bricks were scattered across the world after an encounter with the mighty Galactus.

The rest of the game and its epic storyline is centered around the heroes and villains finding all the remaining cosmic bricks, almost like the Avengers and Thanos' mission to find all the infinity stones.

2 Is Drax The Destroyer Secretly A Jazz Maestro?

In one of the more bizarre but incredibly fun missions of the original Lego Marvel Super Heroes, the game was the character-based mission about Drax The Destroyer. For a man whose one and only goal in life is to kill Thanos and avenge his family, it came as quite a surprise that the game saw Draw arrive on Earth in search of a saxophone.

After breaking into a local music shop and pursuing his passion for jazz on the sax, Drax had to defeat a mob of angry AIM agents, who happen to have a particular hatred for jazz, who would have guessed it?

1 Hulk And His Secret Love For Dirty Dancing

If you thought taking selfies was already a stretch for Bruce Banner's green alter ego the Incredible Hulk, some eager fans noticed that Lego's version of the character may have a slight obsession with Dirty Dancing. In yet another in-game mission, Tony Stark hosts a celebratory party at the Stark Tower, which unfortunately sucks.

After the broken speaker system is fixed, Hulk turns up the volume and shows off his dance moves, which results in him lifting Black Widow over his head and exclaiming "Hulk had time of his life!" If this is a reference to Dirty Dancing, Lego has definitely outdone themselves.
